Why GPI?

  • Formed as the GPT (Guarantee Protection Trust) in 1983, a completely independent company, by the PCA members to provide fair, transparent insured guarantees protecting property owners from the inadequate treatment guarantees then (and still) available in the market place.
  • GPI was authorised to trade by the FSA in April 2002 to issue insurance certificates in the UK including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
  • GPI is regulated by the FSA.
  • GPI are specialists in their niche market.
  • The GPI nearly £8 Million in available reserves.
  • Described by Sir Gordon Borrie a past Director-General of the Office of Fair Trading, as a 'Landmark in Consumer Protection'.

Facts about the GPI

  • Major chemical manufacturers continue to issue 'insurance backed' guarantees.
  • Most manufacturers have only annual calamity insurance in their name, some don't even have that.
  • No manufacturer is regulated by the FSA.
  • No manufacturer has remained under the same ownership for as long as 20 years.
  • GPI has almost 1 million guarantees registered covering everything from cottages to palaces.
  • If 75% of our members went out of business tomorrow, there are sufficient reserves to meet ALL our guarantee obligations for the next 20 years.

Quote from the Guardian

The National Association of Estate Agents and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors advise that when looking for a remedial company you should make sure it is a member of the PCA (formerly the British Wood Preserving and Damp-proofing Association). Ideally it should also be a member of the Guarantee Protection Insurance which insures the work.
